Childhood Connection to Play
When I was five years old I can remember playing with my brothers and friends in the yard. We used sticks and rocks to play hop scotch. This was a fun time for us to share ideas and be creative. There were times when we would play card games, made up games and games that include running, jumping, sack race, trying to see who can hopped the fastest and playing follower the leader.
Quotes:
Effective preschool raises achievement levels for all children, and it offers real hope for closing the school-readiness gap.
Jack O’Connell
The most interesting information comes from children, for they tell all they know and then stop.
Mark Twain
When I was a child my mother would send us outside and suggest games that my brothers and I to play. Sometimes she would participate in the games with us. The mothers in the neighborhood were always there to encourage us to be creative and explore.
Play has been and will always be the most important time in a child’s life. It is through play that children express them self. They learn skills that meet the developmental domains. Children today are missing the elements of play because of technology. It seems that children are more interest in playing hand games rather than going outside and enjoying the sunshine and being creative through play.
