Getting to know your International Contacts
I listen to the podcast on “The Effects of Poverty on the Early Childhood Community” by Dr. Grace. The information she gave from the census beau reported that the U.S. has a high percentage of poverty in children. Children who experience poverty at an early age risk chances of having developmental delays. Researchers found that poverty not only affects children, but the entire family. Most family suffers from mental health issues, depression, addictions and mental illness due to poverty.
The Children Defense Fund raises issues on funding. I like Dr. Grace believe that the people should have a voice and speak to policy makers, state, local and federal resprensentives about the health and social services for all families as it relates to early childhood children in order to prevent delays and ensure health service.

Have you had the opportunity to speak to any policy makers on behalf of young children and if so what was your focus? If not, would you do so if you personally had the opportunity? I think that I would like to because I am feeling more and more motivated to be active.
